The Organic Self and Somatic Completion
Welcome to this presentation, inspired by the profound insights of Eugene Gendlin in his seminal article, "It Fills Itself In."
The focus of this work is the "Organic Self"—the inherent, biological wisdom of the human body. In this presentation, we explore how the organism is not just a passive recorder of past experiences, but a dynamic system capable of "filling in" the gaps of missing childhood interactions.
Gendlin taught us that our bodies "imply" the next steps of healing. When provided with a safe, protective interaction, the body can physically complete stalled processes from our past, leading to deep, tissue-level transformation.
A Special Note of Gratitude:
We owe a debt of gratitude to the late Eugene Gendlin. His revolutionary philosophy and his development of the Focusing-oriented approach have opened new pathways for healing and understanding the human experience. His work continues to guide us in trusting the creative and self-propelling power of the body.

Closing Words Thank you for exploring this journey of somatic healing and the "Organic Self."
We hope this presentation has shed light on how the body—even in adulthood—retains the blueprint for its own completion and healing. As Gendlin emphasized, our role is often to "clean the wound" by providing safety and presence, allowing the body’s innate wisdom to do the rest.
"The SOF approach bridges the gap between biological potential and practical healing. By providing the 'missing interaction' that Gendlin describes, we facilitate a shared Felt Sense of the connection. It is within this lived, interpersonal interaction that a tangible somatic change is born—allowing the body to complete its stalled processes and move forward."
